maybe even more important, its memory consumption:

both these tests upload 100 files each in 50 parallel transfers, each uploading a 500MB file

Measurable improvement to say the least. Nice work!

@willow @icing but really, its the relative change that is important as the exact speed will vary depending on machine and conditions
