Apparently people are migrating from wattpad to AO3 for fanfic and getting mad about the lack of censorship, and the discourse is incredible.

I think explicit fics on ao3 should be restricted to signed in users only, and signed in users should be prompted to enter their password or a passkey into an acknowledgement (that pops up in the MIDDLE of the screen instead of up top) so it forces them to sit there and actually read the warnings before entering their passkey.

Like, first of all, there's already an adult content warning you have to click through on AO3. Secondly, everything about this is insane. Thirdly, requiring people to sign in to read porn means that reading porn is no longer anonymous.

@BathysphereHat I could be wrong, but I'm also pretty sure that if you have an AO3 account you can set up tag blacklists. You can definitely exclude tags and set the overall rating level in searches even if you're not signed in.
