@amoroso more stories! You can't leave us hanging like that! What age were you? Did you have prior experience with audio tape recorders before being introduced to the Spectrum? What was appealing about computers? Did you want a computer, or did it arrive as an unexpected gift?
@fluidlogic Thanks, it's pretty much the usual story of curious geeks.
I was beginning high school and, although I had no experience with hi-fi and audio equipment, I was familiar with operating tape recorders.
I did want a computer and asked my parents to buy it. I had briefly played with the Apple ][e of a friend and was intrigued by the ability of these machines of creating interactive worlds by programming.
