Is it more important that publications post on the Fediverse, or that they don't post on X?

Hey, all. Thanks for replying.
This poll came in response to a recent announcement by MacStories that they were going to start posting on X again.
There are a lot of angry responses. I found this surprising, since the poster said they'd continue posting on the Fediverse.
I think it's interesting to see that attitude reflected in this poll. It does clarify why that post got such strong negative responses.
Anyway, I'm much more Fediverse. I care more about whether content is available here than if it's copied elsewhere. I'd rather see content on both than neither.
@evan I think people would be more understanding if it really just was stuff being copied over to Twitter, like a bot mirroring their site’s RSS feed. I think folks (including me) are upset because Federico and John also reactivated their personal accounts. It seems like they’ll be actively participating over there, not just allowing their stuff to appear there. Especially after they made a big deal years ago about why they left.
(I respect your position. My priorities differ, which is okay.)
I get that there are people for whom their primary motivation is stopping X. That's fine; somebody has to do that job. For me, my number one goal is growing the Fediverse and retaining people on the Fediverse.
@evan i think it just entirely depends where their audience is and what they're trying to do
posting on X is fine, only on X is bad. that forces your readers to be exposured to their propaganda.
posting on fedi could/should mean posting the actual article on their own site using WordPress or Ghost. ala #APnative. doing more of this would demonstrate to all writers how inferior using the corporate platforms really is.

Within hours I have dozens and dozens of spam accounts following me.
I reported many of them.
Twitter / X staff responded that none of them were in violation of the TOS.
They were almost all jailbait young female picture accounts, pushing taglines about how much they were interested in me. Obvious malicious spam.
I logged out for like a year or more.
I logged in again recently and they tried to sell me on a paid account and 'get verified' when I hadn't even been able to use the service. Gag.
Avoiding X is easy.

Posting on the Fediverse as just another platform, without understanding the co-construction nature of it, isn't bad per se but not really useful (especially if it's posting things without interacting with other Netizens).

@evan simply, the former is required to move community. If you simply stop posting on twitter.com nobody moves. If you start posting on fedi some will move. If you then stop posting on twitter.com many may move.
I would commend anyone who accepts the personal importance of ceasing all interaction with twitter.com, including collectives in agreement who are publishing, but for publications I think the argument is clear that the task of moving community is the one with primacy over purity.
