@fuzzyleapfrog @leah oh great! so, my questions are kind of undefined, but I am lowkey realizing that I don't wanna be a software developer forever and I think being a librarian could be a good alternative path for me. I love books and basically all other media, cataloguing and ordering things is fun to me, and I like interacting with people. My question is mostly what the day to day work is actually like, how well it pays, how it is impacted by the rise of ai slop etc.
@Lux The day-to-day routine varies heavily depending on the type of library (public, academic, specialist, national, etc.) and the exact type of job (reference librarian, cataloguing, system librarian, software developer, event management, marketing, etc.) so there isn't an easy answer. There are also multiple ways to get into library work (lateral entry, professional training, bachelor or master) and everyone is paid according to their formal qualification (TV ÖD).
