Alternatively, is transferring files manually between a phone and a computer something we do?
For clarity I’m talking about manually moving files from your own phone to your own computer, not including any field that get synced automatically

@danirabbit android, i use syncthing to automatically sync certain folders ideally over the local network. i also have a folder purely for one way transfers (copy/move to the folder from one device. move from the other)
@danirabbit I occasionally make manual backups of my files from my phone to my computer. I also sometimes need a document or photo I downloaded from an app onto my computer where I plug in my phone to my laptop and copy it over. Sometimes I use something like LocalSend to send that file wirelessly but I have had reliability issues with those methods in the past and it usually just ends up being faster to find a USB cable.
@danirabbit i'm not sure if that counts as manually but i usually send files from my linux desktop to android phone/tablet via localsend
@danirabbit i do both, also via web and lan, always dependents of the file. So yes i do!
@danirabbit not my phone, but I have a retro gaming handheld that runs android that I plug in to manage every so often so I can access the folders that Android blocks you from accessing on the device itself.
@danirabbit I'm a bit fuzzy on the "moving files" aspect; I move photos, music, and possibly some other ancillary document, but that does not map to "files" in the desktop sense, because I'm not seeing the file itself on the phone.
@danirabbit I usually just use KDE Connect and use its GVFS thingie to just open up my phone as a transparent folder lol.
