"Why don't you just do your elections the way we do in my completely different country that's organized totally differently" is not likely to be as helpful as you think.
@mattblaze Yep..
Also, even in a country with independent electoral processes, we still have racist/fascist grifters on the march ATM.
Empathising with you during shitty times.
Literal Nazis are destroying the United States, have ingrained themselves the perfect positions to defeat all checks and balances according to long well thought out plan backed by the richest, most powerful people in the world.
Some dude on the internet: "Why don't you just change the system, duh?"
That's privilege.
@mattblaze
The "why don't you just" preface discounts anything that follows.
@mattblaze the US could at least look around and learn instead of sticking to 'how we do things'.
If we all did that we would still be cavemen.
@BasieP Really? Do you actually believe that US election experts (like say, me) have NO IDEA AT ALL how other countries’ voting schemes work? We’re just sitting around waiting for some dude on social media to tell us how we should do things?
Forgive me for not taking you the least bit seriously.
@mattblaze wauw taking stuff personal man. Relax.
I said 'the US', not 'Matt Blaze'.
Also.
I don't see any changes in the system the US use for the last 3 decades.
So i'm sure you're looking, but nothing changes.
Stuff like gerry mandering, commerical influence, only 2 parties, absolute power for the winner.
Really all of europe can't imagine that stuff..
@BasieP “Just complely change the US constitution and the organization of federal, state, and local government”. You’re an unserious troll. Bye.
@BasieP @mattblaze And yet fascist parties are ascendant in most European countries anyway.
@MisuseCase @BasieP @mattblaze can confirm that a multiparty parliamentary system can and does yield many different type of fascists factions in parliament. Not ideal.
@mattblaze I'm also a fan of people who suggest voting schemes that haven't actually been tried anywhere.
Although I will say this, sortition isn't looking half bad right now. (That is a joke. A nuclear-armed nation should not implement sortition to elect its leaders.)
