I bought a geography book for kids (presumably) to have fun learning about Africa and they show like only like half of the continent ๐
@slims
That might be supposed to be set in an alternate timeline where the Kongo Basin sank...
@KuramaSuben and I got it _specifically_ to read more about the congo
@slims
Bummer... Maybe there is some honourable mention on the Cameroon page.
When I was a kid I had a big fat atlas that Iโd open and just read. Was amazing.
Some unasked context: I thought my geography knowledge was pretty good until I got humbled by pretty much meeting anyone outside of Europe/South America. So I set out a goal to memorize all of Africa - at least their capitals, languages and location. I got pretty far with Anki but it is just โข so โข damn โข boring. So here I am trying to go back to my normal ways of reading and having fun.
@slims the geography of Africa was a integral part of 5th grade for me. In retrospect I'm glad that we had a unit on it and I wish we had learned more
And if I finish Africa, Iโm thinking of doing either Indian states or Chinese provinces next.
@slims
Equatorial Guinea is one of I think only two or three countries in the world that have continental territory but their capital on an island ๐ค
@slims I had one that was like 3 feet x 2 feet closed. Amazing things and I would have stolen it when I went to college if it wasn't already so outdated at that time
