Thinking of fully federating Discourse
#Discourse #ActivityPub #Fediverse #Forums
That is very cool!
@angusmcleod is the creator of the current #ActivityPub Discourse plugin, that has become official. But it is still rough around the edges.
The AP community forum #SocialHub doubles as a test deployment for this plugin.

"What is a forum?" if it were built from scratch for the #fediverse is an interesting exercise.
@smallcircles@social.coop awesome, thanks! I was thinking of contacting @angusmcleod@mastodon.social anyway - haven't decided yet if I should start a new plugin or work on top of the existing one. Sending Angus a dm now!
@smallcircles@social.coop I've forked discourse-activity-pub, implemented full groups support, but haven't tested properly so it sits in a private codeberg repo for the time being. @angusmcleod@mastodon.social never replied to my messages 🤷♂️
(Traveling by train, so typing sloooow)
Discourse AP plugin is in a weird state, with Angus inability to spend time on it, while it is still quite immature.
Since Discourse made the plugin 'official', what I'd do is go via the Meta forum, and address the company/organization directly with your contribution. Get some discussion going on the forum. Other folks have pointed out issues, stated interest in improving the plugin, and they were not that well served. I expected more from Discourse in that regard.
Perhaps they don't see high enough value in AP support. Fedi integration right now has the disadvantage of eroding the 'concept of Community' that is unique selling point of their product.
