@afewbugs @transitionalaspect Easier than a scythe, and much more portable is a grass-hook or hand scythe. One-handed, makes light work of long grass. My dad had one for the allotment when I was a kid, and all of us children got taught and trusted to use it. The safest way to use it was by putting your free arm behind your back.
@transitionalaspect I would settle for a scythe if a Geiger counter wasn't forthcoming. I've only used one once but it was very satisfying
