@inquiline oh no. Losing tree friends is hard.馃挏 A neighbor removed a line of bottlebrush trees, and the hummingbirds lost a long time nesting site :/
awww, poor hummingbirds, and you 馃挃
@inquiline I know exactly this grief. Tree and habitat loss is such an alteration to your own home. Oof.

at another house where i spend some time (this guava tree is being removed at my apartment), i was *gutted* when the vacant lot sold and the tree through which i'd watched so many sunrises and moonrises had to come down. a special one that only grows there too. here it was in 2017. definitely grief, still grief
@inquiline The house next door to me has sold, and things being what they are this older home will be demolished to make way for a two story dual occupancy investment. The tree that fills my kitchen with birds will go. Awful.

@inquiline oh no that's so sad 馃挃
@inquiline seriously though I understand that the loss of beloved trees is a real grief, and I'm sorry
thanks 馃挌
i already hated these neighbors too and i'm gonna hate looking straight at their house!! but most of all sad for the birds. i hope no one's nest came down. really can't bear to dwell on that part 馃槶
A tragedy. All those little guavas are so good and fruit trees should live forever.
on more than one occasion there have been so many on the ground that we've scooped them up and donated to a local brewery which uses them in beer. this was just so unnecessary. i'm most mad about critters losing food and places to perch but i'm additionally mad that this tree's removal means i now will stare at the neighbor's house rather than birds while washing the dishes
