My family had a kind of superstition that if someone said "drive safe" or similar, and you responded with "thank you", you were jinxing yourself.

@jaystephens My family had this for someone saying “bless you” if you sneezed. Saying “thank you” reverted the benefit of the blessing.

Yup, "bless you" was definitely on the list of things you shouldn't thank for!
