Well you cheeky little monkeys. What a day. My little hiking expedition predictably turned into.... A Lot. Condensed version is I thought I'd cut back on the walking because of the temperature, so tried to be clever. Got a bus to a pretty little place called something then walked to Goring. Had a pint then thought I'd have a 3 hour walk. Turned out it was more like a 5.5 hour walk then it hit 36° and I got a bit turned around and ended up walking half an hour the wrong way so added an hour to it and it was blistering, so I thought I'd bus a bit then walk a bit. Long story short.... Lots of people I met have different ideas on how I should get to places. So I ended up in Oxford. Which whilst very pretty has the stupidest fucking bus system in the world. No fixed bus stops and a bus that'll probably maybe come every hour and a half or so. So my little jaunt turned into an 11 hour expedition in blazing heat. But it was mostly lovely and positive. Except for the bit in Oxford where I thought I might have to shell out a hundred quid for a cab to rescue me. And just as I was calling..... the bus arrived. 😎
Very long story short.... Bit of an adventure and ended up arriving hot and stressed, but where I'd negotiated a very affordable bell tent with fairy lights and double bed and thought I was basically Gordon Gecko - turns out I'm literally the only person here. So I'm currently sat in a field my myself in just my shorts with a bottle of vino and a book. The temperature has finally dropped and apart from about 200 murderous looking rabbits, I feel tremendous. I will sleep well tonight. Love and power to you all, you magnificent voles. X
