Galway is the most timidly conservative place in the world. Never fall for it's bohemian artistic reputation. Huge numbers of its population hate it. If it's not building a road or racing a horse they do not want to know. Galway's reputation is founded on this basic dishonesty and I don't know anywhere else in Ireland that is as hypocritical.
@allancavanagh this happens a lot in towns dominated by a university. The reputation comes from the stuff derived from students and the university, but they tend not to be the ones driving local politics.
@relistan people were celebrating the outer bypass that the local authorities admit will cause us harm.
