I'm just going to have to buy a pelmenitsa, because the quality of the local frozen pelmeni has gone precipitously downhill. It is not enough to turn into my mother. I will have to turn into my grandmother.

@evacide Somehow I read plemenitsa... Which in Bulgarian is niece... And suddenly your post became super weird... But ok! It is a nice dish. I have eaten the Georgian version of this which is called hinkali.
@zazen Khinkali are also good, though they are much bigger and I've been unable to find frozen khinkali for sale.
@evacide In Athens (Greece) there are many Georgians and many bakeries where you can order them from. You just call and ask for as many as you want and they prepare them. If you find some where you live, try also hatsapuri (it is their version of pizza, only cheese and butter.... lots of butter)
@zazen I am extremely familiar with Georgian food, but there is not a lot of it where I live. I have made khatsapuri and I have no idea why it is not the most popular brunch dish in America.
@evacide becoming ancestors will continue until morale improves
@evacide I had never heard of these. Now I'll have to find a place near me which serves them.
Looks like Hansen's Law: "What the child wishes to forget, the grandchild wishes to remember."
@evacide Curious to know your seasoning for the filling, also meat or veggie?
@upstartbear Chicken or beef. Sometimes with a little bit of mushroom.
@evacide they appear to be much like kreplach?
we got one about 6 months ago and it's been in regular use since. we keep making bigger batches in the hopes of having some to freeze but we keep eating them all. ;)
5 stars, would totally recommend making your own pelmeni.
