Why do I get the feeling that while the booing sounds like a good thing, Schmidt and is ilk really don’t care.

Interested in why you think that he didn't care. In the video, although he soldiers on, he looks very uncomfortable and red faced. It seems like ridicule is one of the only weapons that regular people have against these monsters.

True. He's not going to chsnge. Never-the-less it is good for him to be confronted with how deeply unpopular his bullshit is. If nothing else it encourages others to oppose it.

It’s just like any other protest, really. Builds solidarity, and puts power on notice that we aren’t going to acquiesce so easily. One thing we’ve learned is that every little bit of resistance matters!
