I thought I would post the dog bite wound I sustained so people understand how bad it is! I am having skin graft surgery on Monday. Mastodon having a content warning is a good idea!

@mpe good lord. I guess I’d assumed your complications were mostly due to chronic conditions but that’s Jurassic park level injury. Mercy to you!
@jnonfiction thanks! And nope: it is a BIG and DEEP bite. As I said to Mike Taylor just now: somehow, however I describe it, it does not do justice to the reality!
@mpe Ai-yi-yi. I hope the healing process is swift and smooth.
Kudos for not blaming or punishing Luka.
@sennoma thank you. I know exactly what went wrong and what I could have done differently to avert the situation. He is only dangerous when he is completely frightened. So we will work to ensure that doesn't happen.
@mpe OMG!!! That is truly horrifying. Surely that dog bit itself didn't do that? It must be complications?
I am so sorry.
@mike nope. That was taken the day after the bite. Huge chunk of my leg on the floor. Bite down to exposed fascia and bone.
@mpe I missed the original post when it happened and just scrolled back to read it and it moved me to tears. Wishing both of you (well, maybe better all 4 of you) the best for the healing process
@gedankenstuecke thank you - it's been/is a rough period!
@mpe very understandably so. But I admire the principled and clear-headed stance on taking in dogs, they can be happy to have found such a great home!
@gedankenstuecke thank you for the kind words. I appreciate them.
I'm not sure that Luka realises that he is lucky! But, as I said, I want to work with him to get him to relax and feel happy in life, rather than being the anxious soul that he has been, his whole life.
