Fun fact.
I passed a clearcut, hygge in Swedish, called Wilson-hygget this weekend.
Many many years ago there was a Wilson’s snipe there. People still talk about it. 😅

@idzie One day I looked in my yard, there was a bird that looked like an oversized sparrow. It was so strange, I couldn't figure out what it was. At last, I found a picture of it, it was a female red-winged blackbird. I had no idea they looked so different from the males.
@flyhigh ah yes, the notorious female red-winged blackbird. No one knows what they look like, and they're often mistaken for other birds.😆

@danmccullough yes, I was really happy about all of them! 😊 Also saw some eastern phoebes for the first time this year, instead of just hearing them like I've been doing the last couple of weeks.

@fitzbew248 a grey one, blending in very well to their tree, I never would have seen them had someone not pointed them out to me. They seemed completely unbothered by the small group of people far below, their eyes remained closed in the sunlight, their face looking sweet and contented. @inherentlee they're so fun!! I hope I can find some hooded ones soon, I haven't seen any hooded mergansers yet this winter and I miss those silly little ducks
