@jsit Yep, that works! I also learned that the - register is called the "small deletions" register. What I read in :help registers doesn't seem to address why it and the unnamed register have different behaviors when repeated. How did you find out about that?

@oantolin Haha yeah, I also don't understand from the documentation why it works for your use case while the “” register doesn't. I just tried doing what you were doing and then did :registers to see if the deleted string was stored anywhere else, I saw it in “-, and tried that
