I think there are still pictures of lines of vehicles going across huge farms, combine harvesters depositing grain into a queue of trucks beside them.
I can imagine a battery truck joining in, and heading back to recharge, or indeed a grain truck that offers electricity in return.
The power and energy doesn't seem to be ridiculously high, and electric drives are good at low speed smooth torque.
@cstross @graydon @Photo55 @rootwyrm You can already buy electric tractors and farm equipment, and in sunny climes farmers can charge their farm equipment so saving money of fuel.
