I hold a special kind of hatred for doctors who are condescending. Went to the doctor today with my symptoms, and explained, "I'm pretty sure I have MCAS, so it could be that, but I'm just wanting to rule out any other explanation"
Him later "well I don't know MCAS and you're talking about your medical history at a walk-in appointment. We also do scheduled appointments" Me: "since when? I've rarely been able to get them, but I did come here with emergent symptoms that I was unsure of"
Like, I'm not asking you to know my full medical file, I'm not asking you to be a specialist in MCAS, I'm saying "I want to rule out other causes for my symptoms before blaming MCAS" (this doctor wasn't my regular doctor) He did eventually agree to a blood test & urine test just to rule out things
When I explained to him that across my stomach I'd had a temperature of 39.2°C across my stomach (clearly fever level) but for some reason my forehead was reading 36,6°C this doctor started to mansplain to me "fevers affect the whole body. The head is cooler because it's out in the air"
Like, my brother in christ, I fucking know that which is why I'm here, I found it highly fucking unusual and I'd like to figure out what is going on with me.
