@ifixcoinops I guess we do need a subject. I hadn't made it that far.
Hellthreads tend to be pretty loose on subject matter.

@ajroach42 I just had someone try to tell me programming is art, that'd do well as a hellthread #onHere
@ifixcoinops @ajroach42 of course programming is an art.
Or /can/ be an art, anyways.
Goodman introduced the idea of "allographic art" back in 1968, and programming definitely qualifies.
Of course, that loops in all AI art too...
@ifixcoinops lmao.
I think programming is more of a craft.
@ajroach42 Putting paint on a canvas or words on paper or making sounds ain't always art. Just so with writing code. @ifixcoinops
I would argue that just like painting a mural is an art and painting a wall is a craft, programming a game is an art and programming a mastodon client is a craft.
@ajroach42 flinging bits of green text on a black background code out of my table saw and sucking it up in my shop vac and now the vac has a virus
@ajroach42 @ifixcoinops Programming is art, because the tech industry came to destroy programming at exactly the same time they came to destroy all other art.
@datarama @ajroach42 @ifixcoinops "If an LLM can do it badly, it's art."
@datarama @ajroach42 programming isn't art because you don't get messy doing it
@ajroach42 @ifixcoinops Roger Ebert was wrong and programming can definitely be a--hold on *rummages through scattered note sheets*
@outie @ajroach42 @ifixcoinops Programming is only art when the coder is suffering.
@ajroach42 @ifixcoinops (honestly I personally think the best hellthreads also have particularly cursed subject matter being discussed, such as the mechanics of Rayman's dick)
