@fionafokus@mystical.garden hey fiona. I wrote a piece on AI. My views are highly nuanced and it is extremely complex to put my ideas onto a post in a way that people will understand exactly what I mean (regardless or not of whether they agree with it).
Before sharing my piece, let me be clear about what I mean. Yes: AI can be used to increase productivity. No: I don't think we can win this battle against AI. We can't win because in this capitalist hellscape world, the sad reality is we are limited to money, to a great extent. Poor people have little leverage, in every sense imaginable.
With that being said, I agree with most if not all of your post. In particular, the power aspect. We are empowering the already rich, and we are actively dismantling the working class by increasing AI adoption. AI companies talk about world-changing implications like curing cancer because that is good marketing, but what they really want to do is get rid of workers entirely. Capitalism cheat code: replace your employees with a ChatGPT subscription that never sleeps, never takes PTO, never unionised, never moves to your competitor.
With the above in mind, I hope you can understand what I express in my post: https://ulveon.net/p/2025-08-10-ai-is-not-a-fad-its-here-to-stay/
I am not exactly optimistic, but I also feel powerless.
And yes, AI is exactly the opposite of hacker culture, and they should all be ashamed.
