Even if you already assume that Trump is Putin’s toady, doing his bidding at every turn, the details of their so-called “peace plan” must shock you. It sells out not only Ukraine but all of Europe. And it is crafted to shift billions of dollars into the pockets of shady oligarchs.

The Atlantic

The Murky Plan That Ensures a Future War

Who will benefit from the White House’s 28-point proposal for Ukraine?

@gleick Tell Putin and Trump to go to hell together. All of those deaths of Ukrainians fighting for nothing and giving Putin even more land and never joining NATO? Let the EU and the rest of NATO stand firm for Ukraine. Worst “deal” ever.

@gleick It is simply evil and certainly not a peace plan. It's a one-sided cop-out.

It's not shocking at all:

It was crystally clear that this was gonna happen when you have Russian fanboys Trump, Vance, Musk openly and eagerly kissing Putin's ass.

They must be held accountable for their crimes.

Zalensky won't sign it. Nor should he. Russia is pretty close to collapse over this shit. If Ukraine just hangs in there a little longer, they'll fucking win.

@gleick It’s almost like USA keeps trying to ally with Russia, again and again.

Almost every president in the last 30 years wants to ”hit the reset button with Russia”

They keep doing it, and throwing their friends under the bus.

We shouldn’t stand for it. It’s gonna kill us.

@gleick Even characterizing that incoherent mess as "crafted" unduly dignifies the quality of work the Russians put into it.

@gleick

As always, Anne Applebaum does a great job of reporting here. But it is really important to include that this 'plan' is not going anywhere. European officials have already called it a non-starter.

What is really interesting, as spelled out in this excellent piece by Phillips Obrien is how the US has systematically undermined its influence through disembling and failure to live up to commitments. And Europeans are finally getting the measure of these guys.
