#climateDiary

BBC business news on #r4today is frequently bad journalism but today’s segment from 6:19 to 6:30 was especially awful even by Sean Farrington’s standards.

*While COP30 is going on* he essentially gave ExxonMobilUK Chair, Paul Greenwood, free rein to push his agenda unchallenged.

Truly a new low

…Giving up all pretence of both-sidesing it, Sean not only let Exxon paint the picture it wanted unchallenged, he then asked some capital fund analyst on to endorse it, talk shite about crypto and then act as a booster for AI chip fab.

Just fkn atrocious.

37 years into the IPCC era and we’re still pumping out ridiculously siloed journalistic bollocks. People like Sean are employed to make sure the dots stay as disconnected as possible

@urlyman is it #r4today business “news” that’s sparked your entirely justified fury?

It’s one of the main reasons I gave up listening to this disgraceful, propagandist shitshow some years ago.

@bbcnews ”flagship” news programme my arse. It’s a parody: a mechanism to sow ideological compliance while seeking to artificially generate the day’s news headlines by creating some court gossip “controversy”

As you say, it’s sole purpose is to hide reality & stifle analysis

@Simon318ppm it is. And that’s an apt summation. I prefer to listen to the World Service for a bit but during the day Radio 4 gets put on so that’s the setting the radio is last at in the morning
