Watching Simple Minds do a live set on TV. They have obviously aged since the 1980s. That's fine. I can cope with that and the fact Don't You (Forget About Me) sounds slightly different. And that they've got a cool new drummer who plays a bit differently. That's fine. What I cannot abide is that after the quiet bit towards the end, the drum break wasn't the same as the original. As that is the best bit of the song and not doing it makes me feel like ants under my skin and so I've had to search it up and listen to that drum break done properly 5 or 6 times just to calm me down. If you ever wondered what being ND is like. 馃憤

@TheBreadmonkey

This is where my "jam band" side comes in handy bc that side of my brain says any live performance that is just like what's on the album makes for a boring concert.

@RVLara23

I understand and to some extent agree - Pink Floyd play note for note and it's a bit weird - but this sort of deviation is like performing Live and Let Die only singing Live and Let Maracas - it's weird and doesn't fit

@TheBreadmonkey And now I have to go off and listen to both versions to hear exactly what you mean.

80s Simple Minds in big suit jackets rolled up poncing about in front of a bunch of monitors.

@TheBreadmonkey

Ben, I am a drummer and I completely agree. Mel Gaynor鈥檚 fill is what makes that track. It must be played like he played it on the original.

@TheBreadmonkey It boggles both simple and complicated minds.

Like playing Layla and cutting off the piano exit.

@TheBreadmonkey I saw Bob Dylan live once around 2002 and he'd go up on "man" in Hey Mister Tamborine Man like an Aussie making everything sound like a question and I've never quite gotten over it.
