It's so pretty!! (I keep affirming to myself over and over.... it was -19C this morning when I went out to do chores)

Frost growing all over a chicken wire fence: it's hexagons all the way down

@sundogplanets Here in my corner of Germany, it doesn't even go below +7°C at night at the moment, and it should be something like -2 or -3°C instead. It is painfully obvious that something is seriously wrong with the climate. It should be freezing now, even if only barely so, but it isn't.

You may still have real flowers where you are, but I have frost flowers, so there.

Much closer view of a frost tuft. You can see a really neat feather-like structure in the frost. In the background, out of focus, is the fluffy white dog.

@sundogplanets oh, and this reminds me of an unusually very cold morning in Brampton ON some 20 years ago. again; its not the apocalypse

Yes, a rare - to - me double sundog up by the temple. Naked eye cosmology.

@sundogplanets Beautiful shots! a good rebuff of the ^CDM. not a shred of dark energy there.

But, seeing the gravity of it all, the clock has slowed and time stood still right there in front of us in all its frozen glory. the Timescape model is undeniable!

OK,, i'm oversimplifying the math a little. :)

to paraphrase (or blaspheme):
BE STILL
AND KNOW THAT WE ARE

@sundogplanets nowhere near that here yet, but here are some from last year.

A picture taken in January 2024 of red berries on a twig. Especially the red berries in the foreground as well as all the tree branches in the background are covered beautifully in hoarfrost.

Still pretty. Still really freaking cold.

Looking across a field where every single blade of grass is covered by fluffy white frost, backlit by the sun. You can see 2 dogs out in the field, and they look weirdly dark because everything around them is so bright white. The sun is in the sky and the sky is blue.

I really, really shouldn't be jealous, because I understand that Sask climate is a tough one. But this reminds me how much the winter has receded around where I live just in the span of my life... and frost covered trees in November feels might correct!!! So I'm just a teeny smidge jelly.

@sundogplanets That went fast from a bit of frost at night to -19C ! 😳

We’ve had a bit of frost on Friday morning apparently… only found out on the morning walk in the seaside dunes…
