this was predicted well before '88

It's no so much prophecy - it's not *magic* - as it is an understanding of human nature... of the greed for power, the deceit of illusions, and the brain of followers who stay within the group no matter what.
@Edent Ironically, a lot of people had already voluntarily stopped believing what they saw on the news before the AI generated stuff started to appear. So I fear it is less of a loss now than it would have been in 1995.

@Edent the warnings were there, repeatedly
@Edent quite prophetic. Shame we're not getting more Terry and June though. #hutsutrawlsonandabrawlabrawlasooit
@Edent That's good right ? For too long TV and centralized news broadcast has been a propaganda system, taken for true despite it's obvious numerous flaws (political narrative choice, errors, lies).
While lies can come from decentralized broadcasts too, trust is not something that can be centralized so much without extreme danger.
Largest and wore wars and mass crime existed because of centralized truth authorities. Which have been numerous, States, the Church, etc.
@Nephos that's a fascinating point of view. Please tell me more!
@Edent I don't know what to tell more... Today I hardly can trust anything meaningful from TV and big free journals because of how much they fail to do their job.
On the contrary with time we've seen some communities, smaller but not less good showing professionnalism with great consistency. At a smaller scale you can know the people for who they are, not just the actors.
I feel this is required for a non abusive trust.
@Edent Could be worse.
It could be Mrs Brown's Boys.
