I've seen many criticisms over the internet based calls for a general strike saying there needs to be a bunch of groundwork accomplished ahead of time, that is often not done'

My best understanding is it really would be like a siege, where the strikers would need to have supplies of food and water and methods for sanitation built up before striking.
