the moment Hollywood started to realize you don't have to try to tell good stories when you can just go 'Remember this? REMEMBER THIS THING? You remember right??? Please clap'

By the time they came up with the MCU, hollywood had figured out they could just 'member old stuff from the same franchise, the 'member ouroboros.

@unlofl every single star trek show has to have a legacy actor or character or just straight up be a prequel. they don't trust star trek as a concept to stand on its own. they dress it up as 'honoring the legacy' but its really just 'we're too scared to move forward'

I'm sure there were a lot of sappy nostalgia films prior but it was certainly the first to insert its own fictional character into historical events and have no compunction about it
