@NunavutBirder
How do you manage that? (The photos are stunning!)
All that dark must mess with your senses and emotions, no?
@mcahalane No. As ove ssid, I quite enjoy the dark season. And I don’t have a decent circadian rhythm after a career with shift work
@NunavutBirder
I'm south of you. I can't really imagine such a long sleepy time.
But you need to get up every day and work and stuff.
@mcahalane
@ksaj @NunavutBirder oh I do. That is beautiful. I miss the snow so bad. When it snows, and everything is just still and silent. A Texan told me he experienced that and it freaked him out. He's like "it just gets so quiet". I had to explain snow dampens sound.
@praetor @NunavutBirder If you like sunsets, it's a great time to be up there.
And yea, while it's snowing, the world is at its most peaceful and quiet state. Unless it's a storm... but hey, that's part of the bargain.
@NunavutBirder that's very nice
@NunavutBirder Just wanted to say that, as someone who has never lived somewhere where the sun simply DOESN’T SET FOR MONTHS, this sentence is WILD to me. Stunning photo, thanks for sharing!🤩
@bluejay Doesn’t set for three months in the summer nor rose for three in the winter
@NunavutBirder for those unfamiliar with this arrangement the reason for this solar outage is that we will be using the sun in Aotearoa, and subleasing it to Australia and the Pacific Islands for that period.
we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
@falcennial no inconvenience. I love the dark season. And we get it back with interest.
@NunavutBirder boy that would give me all the feels
@independentpen the dark season has its charms.
@NunavutBirder I was thinking more like the sad or dread style feels 😁
@independentpen I very much do not get that. The dark has its own charm. Stars so close they brush the ground. The cold, the quiet. And it goes by fast. Christmas time is busy and full with the games. And when that’s done the twilight grows daily and the anticipation for the return of the Sun is palpable.
@NunavutBirder that sounds lovely
@NunavutBirder in the summer, you get plenty of sun, but in the winter you get Nunavut.
@mweiss Which is pretty special.
@NunavutBirder
@TheEddieShow ⬆️ I thought you might like this photo---I thought the lighting is astonishing
@NunavutBirder Spectacular photo! 😍
@NunavutBirder hello, Vampire Paradise!
(of course they have to go south for the summer)
@davbram There’s a movie like that.
@NunavutBirder How beautiful! Capturing sunsets is my favourite pastime. Whenever I have the time, I always take my little yacht out to the coast to chase the sunset. The sea breeze caresses my face, and it's utterly delightful. My yacht truly is my sunset chaser. https://www.yachttrading.com/yachts/small-yachts-for-sale/
@NunavutBirder Beautiful capture!
@NunavutBirder love the #alttext , that's a new word for me - crepuscular
@NunavutBirder Northern Lights incoming... 🌌
@NunavutBirder That's beautiful!
