Who could have predicted that an austerity agenda would backfire? Carney’s Liberals are collapsing in the polls as Canadians realize you can't cut your way to prosperity.

The promised economic competence has delivered only broken promises and a cycle of polarization and mistrust as voters are staring at empty grocery carts.

Maybe next time don’t govern for corporations while telling struggling families to tighten their belts. 🤡

Liberals' lead shrinks as Canadian mood plummets to historic lows

When Donald Trump says something about Canada, it favours the Liberals, and when he's not focused on Canada, it favours the Conservatives, says pollster Nik Nanos. Meanwhile, pollster Frank Graves says he's seeing the worst level of despair since he began polling in the 1990s and says the challenge for the government is to provide optimism, security, and prosperity.

@yogthos

This is how the Liberals will get the Conservatives elected.

"Graves told The Hill Times that level of despair is the worst he has seen since he began polling in the mid-1990s.

"In the main sample of 2,078 respondents, 68 per cent said they believe “most politicians in Canada care about helping corporations and financial elites than helping the people”—a sentiment expressed by 78 per cent of those under the age of 35."

@Greengordon it's basically this

the ratchet effect: liberals stop movement back to the left and conservatives move everything to the right
