They've relented and emailed me a prepaid postage label so I can send it back to them for replacement. "We apologize for the confusion that we had brought to you."
Still very unhappy that I had to push so hard for the bare minimum required under law, but at least they're not making me talk to the ACCC about a fucking electric blanket.
Also on this particular model the controllers can be unplugged and removed without disturbing the blanket, which is currently on my bed under plenty of bedding and some cats. If they had the spare parts that could just mail me two of them and that would be that. Instead, we have to do this whole rigmarole so they can tick a box and trash the entire product in their warehouse instead of fixing it where it is. #RightToRepair
