This week-end's release of #Quicktake for Apple II brings the decoding speed to under 60 seconds for Quicktake 150 pictures.

I'm having diminishing returns now and will probably leave it at that right now. I should write a little blog post about it as, as usual, the most gains came from unfucking the initial algorithm.

Walk through my reworking of dcraw's Quicktake 150 decoder's algorithm. This article is about high-level optimization and the code is in C so this should be rather accessible.
