With pro-democratic and pro-freedom protests ongoing for over 300 days in Georgia country, even with ongoing difficulties, I hope Georgian language will become EU language too one day.
@EUCommission there is no catalan there. Really sad!
@EUCommission we want Catalan as an official language in the EU.
@EUCommission I speak 3 of them (Dutch, French, English) and understand a 4th one very good (German). You could even say I also speak a 4th one: my own dialect.
Now, the odd thing is I never consider myself a polyglot.

Do they speak a foreign language or do they speak more than one language of the EU?
I would not consider a second European language as foreign.
@EUCommission It is important to restart the discussion on a European lingua franca, a language that does not belong to any nation. We need it to strengthen unity among EU citizens. Promoting newspapers, magazines and books in two (or more) languages could help EU citizens to understand each other better. There will be no true Union without unity among citizens, which could be achieved if there is a movement of ideas from the bottom up and a lingua franca could fuels this process.

Wonderful. Now please add a language with 10 million speakers across 3 EU countries: Catalan.
Many of the EU official languages have far less speakers. There's no reason whatsoever for discriminating against 10 million of your own citizens.

@EUCommission love this post! Speaking more than one language means you are trying to understand someone who bring a culture different than yours! How many languages in the average an US citizens speaks? ;-)

@_elena @EUCommission Had a business meeting this week with an Italian, a German, a Dane, and a Dutch person (me). In English which has really become a 'lngua franca'.
