How can we possibly contemplate compulsory digital ID cards, when this is happening on an almost daily basis 🤦

@TCMuffin Leaving aside the loss of trust after actual government ministers left privileged information in briefcases on trains/at stations/etc, can you IMAGINE how much information hackers can uncover when (and it *is* a when, not an if) they crack the security which will have been given to the lowest bidder because government?!

All that money. All that extortion.

🤦‍♀️

@lexicaleigh

The hack of #JaguarLandRover #JLR highlights exactly this problem...internal IT staff fired and IT security farmed out to a third party private contractor!

Security doesn't come cheap, but the alternative is far worse and much more expensive 🤦

@lexicaleigh @TCMuffin And this is before the scope creep starts and someone suggests, hey, we should include DNA profiles on there too...

@TCMuffin Like, by all means have an opt-in ID card, if you want. But we already have passports and driving licences, we can already prove we are who we say we are. Gathering a huge, compulsory, database of every UK adult is such a terrible idea.

@TCMuffin Don't forget Palantir will be providing the database for this scheme

So Peter Thiel and by extension Donald Trump will effectively have control of your digital ID from day 1

Are you one of the people the tangerine tyrant doesn't like ? PoC ? Trans ? Female ? Disabled ? Muslim ?

Well don't expect your ID to work all the time, if at all

And that's before the UK Gov't du jour start messing with you
