Danish Minister of Justice says no one has the right to communicate in a way that cannot be overheard, recorded, and understood by the police (and other snoops):

@span dangillmor I'd expect better of the Danes. That's, well, sad. On the other hand - just use your own encryption tools, not those provided by dodgy services anyway...

Yeah, sorry about that.
Unfortunately the danish social democratic party, have lost all sense of direction, and are turning full on fascist.
We'll do our best to vote them out.

@span dangillmor Noone has the right to invite a friend over to their private residence and talk to their friend for the duration of their stay without inviting a police officer to hang out with them.

@span dangillmor This is the tip of the iceberg. The current Danish administration is the most dangerous government we have ever had. Several controversial laws are being imposed, all of which will assign more power to the state. The Prime Minister is the most war-mongering of the European leaders. And the least likely to offer even minimal support to the Palestinian people or acknowledgement of a Palestinian state. Things are not well.

Now there should be a vast movement to require such politicians to publicly stream their life 24/7.

Toilet? Camera, microphone, and gas sensor.

Bed? Two night vision, one thermal cameras, pro sound crew, and SpO₂ measurement.

Coffee? Receipt and sugar content public before the first sip.

Secret documents? Special room, any piece of paper must be accounted for, and only after searching it for any toilet paper contraband.

@span pluralistic

@span dangillmor And I thought private correspondence was a basic human right?

But also, regardless of law, there is *always* a way for people to communicate in a way that cannot be decoded. That is a fact. Criminals will always be able to do it.

seems the link does not work for me,

but I can confirm he has said some really awful things and is constantly pushing for this, and similar fascist things.

Chat control is being pushed by the whole government

PET Danish secret police, he proposed a very broad law to allow PET to access everything from health information to just about any register

Currently they are proposing making a "hooligan register" which will be listed on your criminal record, without any court involved

Glad I'm not in Denmark. Though I'm not sure how long we in the USA will continue to enjoy the unenumerated right to privacy. It's constantly under attack by big corporations, the legislature, and the administration. That's gotten worse now that the right wing solidly owns SCOTUS. Their recent decision allowing racial profiling just shoved us a good deal further down the road to being a "shithole country," which the attacks on Rule of Law and Habeas Corpus had already started.

@dangillmor Great work from him to draw attention to the irrationality of the law they want to implement

But it will be interesting to see what position the new French government (which will probably last three months) will take. https://youtu.be/GeUtJSABbbk
