We're ramping up our funding efforts at @anewsocial to ensure we can run Bridgy Fed and Bounce for the long run.
As a non-profit, we want to be as community-funded as possible, so we're focusing on ways to make that easier.
A quick thread about where we're at in terms of funds: (1/3)馃У
giving $1/month via Patreon. I really think that if everybody could work together to make #WebMonetization (an open fiat transfer protocol) happen, it would help the entire fedi. we are the people who really don't want a middleman.
I think fedi isn't averse to money, but we want a way to automatically give directly and regularly, not see ads or paywalls. to be able to build apps that support media creators based on time played etc. for it all to feel more organic.
We're still majority self-funded. @snarfed.org has been donating his money for Bridgy Fed infra since before we started the non-profit, and I've been donating other organizational costs since.
We've also both been (happily) full-time volunteers on the project since December 2024. (2/3)
