Taking this chance to also highlight some other cool projects that got #NGIzero funding in this round—thanks to @nlnet for facilitating the call where I got to (virtually) meet a bunch of the people behind them! 🎉

Also, the full list of newly selected projects here:

#Qryptr, an air-gapped open-hardware encryption device. Basically, you encrypt your message on a special device, and it turns that into a QR code that you can scan on a smartphone or something else for transmission! ✉️

https://nlnet.nl/project/Qryptr/

The Qryptr itself never connects directly to the Internet (or any network), making it impossible to hack that way. I like it mainly because it's a cool-looking pocketable device with a screen and a keyboard but I can see others finding it useful ✨

#MultipathTCP on #Linux. I'm not expert enough to know how exactly that works or what it's doing, but it seems to be making one of the protocols on the bedrock of the #Internet more resilient, which is always a good thing 📡

rust-query, a library with a better API to query #SQLite databases with #Rustrust_ferris

https://nlnet.nl/project/rust-query/

While that sounds relatively mundane, it's something I'm excited about because Rust really doesn't have as many options as, say, Python, where I just define a model in the code and it automagically generates tables, migrations, and everything in between. Did I say doesn't have options? Well, that was only until now 😉

#RustQuery

Universal #EInk Solutions, which aims to provide a consistent API for driving #epaper displays 🖥️

https://nlnet.nl/project/Universal-EInk/

As someone who cannot concentrate for long periods on bright screens and the owner of an e-ink monitor as well as an e-reader, this is something I'm looking forward too as it'll increase hackability and enable the development of more #OpenHardware devices!

(On a related note, I also learnt during the course of the meeting that #Modos is also an NLnet-funded project)
