I found at least 2 very innovative companies in Europe. One is based in Finland (SUUNTO) and makes a range of sophisticated watches especially for outdoors sports. The other is based in France (WITHINGS) and makes smart watches for people who don't really want one (they're analogue watches with hands and all, but with a small screen within the dial and the full range of sensors like an Apple Watch, pairing with an app that runs on iOS or Android).
