J. B. Pritzker is showing some real leadership around the Texas Democratic legislators’ departure from Texas. He is assisting a group of them who travelled to to Illinois. apnews.com/article/us-election

He is perhaps the only high ranking Democrat who understands the need for major cross-state cooperation between Dem governors in blue states and Dem electeds in red ones. This is how a cold civil war should be fought. 1/

@heidilifeldman I think it was mentioned in a different thread, but one important aspect of the current nonsense is that *this redistricting was unscheduled and is happening early,* Texas Republicans last gerrymandered the state in 2021 and on schedule would be once a decade.

This is explicitly because Republicans are having to fight to maintain control of Texas, despite everything they've done to tip the scales in their own favor.

@heidilifeldman Pritzker is smart, and a fighter. He's doing more than Newsom who fights via Twitter or Buttegieg who fights via podcast.

There is NO extradition between states for non-felonies, as I understand it.

Abbott is a giant bag of ill wind.

I do wish Gov Pritzker had his hair cut at SuperCuts and wasn't a billionaire, but there's only one Tim Walz, and he's not running for President. And Pritzker is actually helping his fellow Democratic patriots oppose the tyranny of Texas. 👍

The Texas Democratic legislators can probably only delay the passage of Texas’ gerrymandering bill, meant to protect the slim Republican Fascist Party majority in the U.S. House of Representatives. And of course Pritzker is seeking and gaining publicity for himself as well as for the Texas gerrymandering effort. But not withstanding any of that, Pritzker is effectively using his position to elevate the issue and the problem that Texas is for the rest of the county. 2/

I can’t help but wonder if Pritzker or his advisers are taking a page from history when, during the antebellum period in the U.S., northern states asserted the connection between their interests and the country’s as a whole, specifically by fighting the Fugitive Slave Act. Northern state courts were particularly instrumental. 3/3 journalofthecivilwarera.org/20
