Well this is kind of shit https://github.com/Jahia/richtext-ckeditor5/issues/9
…I’ve been advocating Markdown input for years and only this year circling back to the world of WISYWIGs.
CKEditor seems light years ahead of when I last touched it, but using i instead of em – and providing no way to override that – is bollocks
…anyway, I just added https://github.com/Jahia/richtext-ckeditor5/issues/9#issuecomment-3048623262 to the above 2-year old thread to see if I can blow away the tumbleweed with a little bit of help from @heydon.
Adding as a takeaway:
> In revisiting CKEditor recently I am impressed with how far it has come since I last used it, but to have a policy that is different with respect to `strong` than for `em` is confounding.
…I guess I’ll be writing a Twig |replace pattern to assuage my semantic OCD.
Something like:
|replace('/<i( [^>]+)?>(.*?)<\\/i>/', '<em$1>$2</em>')
@rachel thanks Rachel. Perhaps the Drupal implementation is invoking the `downcast` referenced at https://github.com/ckeditor/ckeditor5/issues/10393#issuecomment-2237364288 ?
@rachel I guess I could do the same for my #CraftCMS context, but… I’d be playing around with minimised .js which would then get wiped out with every update :/
I hope the CK team listen to @brandon sometime soon https://github.com/ckeditor/ckeditor5/issues/10393#issuecomment-2501930882
