Good God. Destroying the Constitution and the rule of law with the compliance of denuded legislatures and courts is not a "winning streak." It is fascism. #BrokenTimes.

White house memo

From Court to Congress to the Mideast, Trump Tallies His Wins
There are serious questions about the wisdom and durability of President Trump’s policies, but on his terms, he can point to a string of accomplishments.

The #BrokenPost is about as bad, discovering the end of separation of power and the Constitution but concluding this a "turbocharged executive." No, it is FASCISM.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/07/04/executive-trump-powers-congress-supreme-court/

The Supreme Court and Congress cede powers to Trump and the presidency
The high court has given the president immunity and protected him from nationwide injunctions. Congress is giving ground on spending and tariffs. It adds up to a turbocharged executive.

@jeffjarvis Well, they started off ok, declaring the horrific facts of the situation, but veered into a tree with that last sentence. The word "grovelling" comes to mind.

The readers, on the other hand, understand what is happening. Here's the Post's AI summary of comments: authoritarianism, dictatorship, "parallels to historical authoritarian regimes." Ja.

The comments express deep concern and alarm over the Supreme Court's decision to limit federal judges' power to issue nationwide injunctions against presidential actions, viewing it as a step towards authoritarianism. Many commenters criticize the Supreme Court and Congress for ceding power to President Trump, describing the situation as a move towards dictatorship and a failure of the checks and balances system. There is a strong sentiment that the decision reflects partisan bias and undermines democracy, with some commenters drawing parallels to historical authoritarian regimes.

@jeffjarvis "A step towards fascism"? Can you really say things are still moving towards something you're already knee deep in? I'll accept "deeper into fascism", but I do not accept the insinuation that the US is not currently a fascist nation.

I remember seeing old headlines from the NYT treating Hitler similarly at the time. And the Hearst papers were the same, right up to Pearl Harbor.

@jeffjarvis "From Court to Congress to the Mideast, Trump Tallies His Wins Against Democracy while Congress and the Courts do His Bidding and don't uphold their oaths. There are serious questions about the level damages of President Trump’s policies to his voters and most working class US citizens, but he can point to a string of 'accomplishments' that push the US further away from democracy and into facism while boosting the Jeff Bezos and Elon Musks of the world."

@jeffjarvis These people are deluded into thinking they're the 'good guys'. Their riches reinforces their viewpoint. Shun them. Don't do business with them. Maybe some momenum for reason, good, compassion, amd accountability can be won back?

Sir #TrumpVirus called it (exact quote),

"The single most popular bill ever signed"

Even given his #BrainSpurs & long history of #doublespeak and flat-out lies,
this seems like a wee bit of.... BS!

Having our healthcare, education, environment, rights, consumer protections, aid to the elderly, ill, and childcare/nutrition ripped away, is "popular"?

He's so smart. More like #evil.
With a #cult of #GQP sychophants who have given the Devil his due, and We the People, nothing.
