... but a public Matrix space, with rooms for topic categories, with threaded chats? One that can be used with your choice of home service and app. One that could be displayed as a more traditional web forum, if someone wanted to write a Matrix app for that. Could be?
Matrix, because it is a venture backed service, will fall to #Enshittification the same way so many others have, so I don't believe it's gonna be a good long term solution either. @strypey

*Element* is a VC-backed service, true. But it's developing Free Code, for a decentralised network, in an engineer-driven company who can easily pull a LibreOffice or NextCloud if VCs overreach. Plus EU regulators, among others, are backing Matrix bigtime as an interoperability standard for RTC.
So literally none of the 4 vectors @pluralistic gives for enshittification are present.
