I don’t know why there are so many rules and regulations about how children need to be strapped into cars for "safety" when I just sat on my mom's lap and it was totally fine because you can barely see the scar from when my forehead slammed into the knob on the car radio.

@Alice when I was a kid, my Dad specifically ordered child seats and had holes drilled in his car to fit them. He’d worked at the UK’s car crash test facility and had watched the first test with child dummies. One hit the back wall of the shed. That convinced him.

@Alice I don’t think that I actually put a dent in the glovebox door with my head, but that’s probably because ‘65 Impalas were made out of real steel.
Lesson: don’t open the door while the car is in motion, because dad will panic.
