@Alice this is how it feels taking a pharmacy class then talking to nurses and trying to tell them what medications you take
my personal favorites ive heard over the years are:
"gabapeneentin" for gabapentin
"tirzippertied" for tirzepatide
"omeprazzle" for omeprazole
@Alice because of encounters with locals, my wife and I call prosciutto "proSKEEto" and gnocchi "guhNOOchee"
@Alice Oh my god. My wife can attest to how exasperated I get every time I hear MARscapone!
It really gets me because it's heard most often from professional chefs. Sometimes The amateur bakers on Bake Off rarely say it like that! Maddening!
@ksawatsky Yeah, it's really bizarre. It's like...this is your job. At a bare minimum, learn how to pronounce the most common ingredients.
@Alice (Yes, I had two replies, and I couldn’t decide so I did them both.)
@Alice Too meric
Too meric to quit (hey, hey)
@Alice Yeah. Everybody knows it’s pronounced chi-po-tul.
@Alice if they were grammar nazis you’d only get SOREkraut and pickled carrots with wurst
