@ZachWeinersmith it's interesting, the advice on this. Some people recommend a plan where you choose a percentage up front, and then consistently extract that much, regardless of the market ups or downs.

I think a safer route is to take out your percentage based on current market value each year, even if that means contracting your spending in bad years. If you can do it.

I think 4% could be safe that way but ymmv. We all pays our money and takes our chances.
