@futurebird the metagame is often more applicable in multiplayer games where it refers to the collection of strategies which beat other strategies and requires a careful accounting of not just all possible techniques but a weighting of most likely along with other factors such as potential team play and support options. that it has been abstracted into single player gaming is perhaps a analogy to the sort of alienation process occurring in surveillance-based social media
