The world relies on a free press for access to reliable information and to hold the powerful to account. From the murders of journalists in Gaza to the corporate capture of publishing platforms, press freedom is increasingly under attack at every level.
5/ 7 May — Anti-SLAPP legislation in the EU
In 2024, the European Union adopted a historic directive against a corporate intimidation tactic known as SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation). The deadline for EU member states to transpose the directive into natl laws is almost here.
