Not really. If on a small server, the global feed is very biased, and the recommendation algorithms in "discover" do not work well, or are also biased. Unless you happen to join a small server with people who happen to share most of your interests, you are better off ....

@tchambers @news @jonny @photography @renchap I would really be happy if at some point in the future, being on a certain server does not matter anymore, because any advantages of being on that server can be enjoyed from another server as well.
@tchambers yes, this is the goal. We plan to work on the last steps of Fediscovery in Mastodon in the coming months so any admin could enable it.
